Shaken, Yet Unbroken: My Thoughts on Forgiveness
You do not truly understand forgiveness until something happens that shakes you to the core of your being. It is easy to speak of forgiveness when the cost is small, but real forgiveness is tested when you have every reason to hold on to bitterness, envy, anger, resentment, and payback.
Yet despite the pain, you make a conscious choice to let go and move forward. Not because what happened was acceptable, and not because it did not hurt, but because you refuse to allow it to define you or imprison your future. That’s forgiveness.
You understand that you were not made to dwell on petty things that weigh down the soul and distract you from who you are, who you are becoming, and the values you choose to live by and the character you’ve built. That’s why you need to let go.
Forgiveness is not weakness; it is strength under control. It is the decision to rise above the hurt, guard your heart, and continue walking with humility, dignity, and purpose.
Sometimes the greatest victory is not getting even—it is becoming better.
Forgive ≠ forget. Forgiveness is a choice, not a feeling. You forgive others, you forgive yourself!
I forgive, because I have been forgiven! I love, because He first loved me! I choose to rise above the shackles because I am more than a conqueror!
